Background colors for filled drawings - redux

#1 Post by Tomg » 09 Dec 2019, 21:19

Add selectable background color capabilities to the filled drawing shapes (rectangle, circle, polygon) in the Component Editor. Doing this in the Component Editor would simplify and speed up the process of enhancing component visibility in the Schematic Editor, as the component being brought into the schematic would already have the desired look. Add the ability to change the background color setting of the component's filled drawing shape to the Schematic Editor. Here is a comparison between a stock DipTrace example schematic (left side) and what it might look like if there were selectable background colors for component shapes (right side)...

I can colour the above in Altium & do use it when highlighting signal paths etc to service personnel. It would be a great addition to DipTrace. We print these on a colour printer as it speeds up our service department's faultfinding.

We also use it to highlight potentiometers (& inductors etc) etc that are required to be adjusted during product calibration procedures.
I also sat between Elvis & Bigfoot on the UFO.

Sorry to resurrect old topic, but I think this tread is best suited for my question.

Is there any plan to implement feature to change color of filled shape in component editor?
I don't really see the point of having filled shape item without option to change color. In schematic editor there is option to choose color for filled shape, is there any possibility to bring this option to Component editor also?

Would it be too complicated to do this change for version 5?

Here is what I mean:

Dear DT team,
any info regarding this feature? I can see it's still not present in component editor.
This seems like easy thing to add, and it can make life easier when adding background color to items.

Thanks!

Thank you for your interest in adding new features. This feature is on our to do list. At the moment, we are working on improving interactive routing.
